Jennifer Huynh is a NY based designer and concept artist. Her practice straddles the worlds of fashion, video, and architecture. Jennifer’s work explores the importance of human connection, intimacy, and organic patterns. Most of her work is constructed in-house, making intentionality crucial in her design process.
Jennifer encourages human interaction through her piece the ‘Wrappable Puffer Vest’ . The Wrappable Vest is designed with two floor-length straps at the sides, that are meant to be wrapped and tied around the wearer’s body. Although, this can be done by the wearer, it would be much easier to ask for a helping hand- breaking down the walls of utilitarian clothing and using apparel as a means for interaction, no matter how brief.
Jennifer’s latest collection ‘The Fishermen’s Suit‘ was inspired by Vietnamese fishing culture and the large nets that are casted into sea. In ariel view, these nets in the water take on an array of different shapes and forms. Jennifer’s use of organic silhouettes and patterns in her work often mirrors the natural world, creating an essence of harmony and flow.
In the future, Jennifer wishes to explore humanity through architecture, space, and furniture. Creating projects outside of apparel and to focus on the entities that surround us, to re-create spaces and objects that already exist.
